I see a beauty before me
Her light at first blinding, calms as it washes over me
Exposing emotions buried deep within
With eyes of one in mourning he turned to face the undeniable truth
She had found her way inside to that place he thought long lost
Dazed and confused the search for self begins anew
Where does one go to find their soul?
He traversed a wasteland for what seemed an eternity
When he finally came upon that place
Expecting a wall he was surprised to see a barren bridge
Whose destination was obscured
With a sense of familiarity he ventured into the unknown
And came upon the place where his heart once lied
In truth he thought to the world
But in its place he saw her
Whence warmth once flowed was cold to touch
Blinding light replaced by a darkness that enveloped all
At the center of the being lied his heart
Which against better judgment he entrusted to her
With a sinister smile she clutched his heart
And a crack began to slither like a snake along the seams
As he stood watching his heart break
From within the ghosts of love past
Seeped from the depths of the chasm where his heart once stood
Whispering I love you and I’d never hurt you
He covered his ears in attempt to shut out the shrieking sound of the sirens
He covered his eyes but where there should have been that luminescent glow between light and dark
He only saw her
Laughing with someone else
Kissing someone else
Happy with someone else
He ran as fast as he could to escape the horror of heartbreak
But was successful in only running back to where he did not want to be
With tears in his eyes he made on last decree
He said ‘how could you say you loved me and treat me so wrong.’
I’ve only known living while entranced by your song
I gave you my heart my queen on her throne
I guess I’m destined to be for ever alone
